MORTEZA HIRAD

(1974 - 2002)

IN MEMORY OF OUR BROTHER

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.  San Diego Arsenal lost one of its brothers on Tuesday June 25, 2002.  Morteza Hirad, age 28, who has been a member of the club since 1997, was killed in an unfortunate auto accident on highway 52 late Tuesday night.   His passing has shocked all those that new him and his loss will be hard to reconcile.

Morteza had played with the first Arsenal 1st division and Premier teams in 1997 and 1998.  He also played through 1999 and took a hiatus from the club until late in 2002 when he rejoined his old club.  He had recently returned from Texas and was anxious about starting the year with the club.  Morteza was a leader and friend to his teammates and coaches.  He had a good and kind heart and was always a man of his word.  To describe Morteza in a few words would not adequately provide a true impression of his personality and spirit.

Arsenal Premier will retire his jersey and will wear the number 9 on their sleeves as a tribute.  The club will dedicate this coming season to his memory and will never forget their fallen brother.
